Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011- In case you missed it!

If you haven’t been caught in the hype of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 release, it actually launched at the end of February and Microsoft has been touting it as the “power of productivity”. For those of you who have been out of the loop, here’s a list of cool features that are creating a buzz for tech-geeks like myself.
 

• Dynamic charts/graphs with drill-down capability – most record types come with pre-configured charts out of the box or users can create their own
• Excel-style filtering capability – manage and understand your data by filtering information in data grids just like Excel
• Office 2007/2010 ribbon bars –quicker access to common functions
• Onscreen help and video tutorials - easier and quicker access to troubleshooting
• Goals & performance measuring - create goals for any type of data and measure your performance versus target
• Multi-tenancy – previously only available on the Enterprise edition of CRM. Users can now support multiple organizations within one installation.
• SharePoint integration & document management - store and manage documents on a SharePoint server from within CRM
• Dashboard creation - customize charts/graphs and visualize your data in real-time
• Role-based forms and field-level security – customize your forms based on User experience and control what users can read, update, or create

In addition to this, Microsoft has rewritten the Outlook plug-in and interface and revised the visual design and layout to add to the user experience.

I’ve done tons of work on our internal CRM so I have to say that the new release actually makes me salivate. The visuals alone are very cool. If your Executive team has ever complained about dashboards or reporting then this version is going to make you look like a superstar.


We’re already implementing customers on the new release and getting great feedback so far.
