An Intern's Look at our Internal CRM

With a pressed shirt and a lunch packed by my mom, I walked into the JustFoodERP office with promise and a few nerves. As a marketing student at Ryerson University, having some previous knowledge of CRM software helped me land this internship. Much to the dismay of my employers, my experience with this type of software (and the “teacher”) had not been pleasant. CRM applications I used in the past had often been complex and difficult to understand. Every time my classmates and I didn’t know how to do something on the software, our teacher would look annoyed and say, “It’s common sense”. Well in fact it wasn’t, and I was anxious about having to work with CRM software here because I assumed it was all the same. Let me tell you, it isn’t! Microsoft Dynamics CRM was easy to grasp and I learned how to work with it in a matter of days. With its simple framework, Microsoft Dynamics allows a company to easily track, store and analyze customer data, all of which can help build and maintain strong relationships. Its layout is intuitive, much like other Microsoft programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, so learning how to work with it is a breeze (the real problem is learning how to use the printer).

These past couple of weeks have been very exciting, and I have learned a lot about marketing and CRM. I have learned that you can only grow if you have the right customers to grow with, and JustFoodERP and Microsoft Dynamics enables a company to do just that. I have also learned that trying to make your own lunch every morning is not an easy task to overcome. Let’s just hope my mom can pack my lunch every morning. I mean, I’m not Superman for crying out loud.

Alex is currently a student at Ryerson University, majoring in Marketing at the Ted Rogers School of Business. He is a die-hard soccer fan both on and off the field and is arguably one of the biggest Seinfeld fans there are. As a marketing intern at JustFoodERP, Alex is learning different tools and skills in the marketing field to better develop his knowledge of the industry.
